About Southern Sydney Business Education Network

SSBEN was founded in 2003, we are a not-for-profit organisation that exists to help young people to successfully transition from school to work (or further education). Initially our focus was helping students in the Sutherland Shire but that has since expanded significantly.

Our long term goal is to develop a more highly skilled local workforce equipped for the global economy by engaging business as partners in education.

Service Area

Our service area has expanded to include St George, Inner West, Sydney CBD and Eastern Suburbs as well as the Sutherland Shire. This area covers 70 Government, Catholic and Independent high schools and 6 TAFE institutes.

Our Services

At the heart of our service offering is the Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) Program.

The Coordination of structured workplace learning is funded by the State of New South Wales through the Department of Education under the Structured Workplace Learning Program and in conjunction with the schools administered by the Catholic Education Commission NSW and the Association of Independent Schools of NSW.

We also deliver a mock-interview program (Interview Assurance) to prepare students with experience interviewing with real employers, as well as the opportunity to ask questions and receive quality feedback and guidance.

The Students
Service Area
The Students

These young people are completing board approved, vocational subjects that form part of their higher school certificate. The students are working towards a nationally recognised qualification in the same industry as the host employer.

Our research indicates that 24% of students that have participated in work placement receive an offer of employment as a direct result of participating in the work placement program.

The Employers

Our team work closely with the local employers that host work placement students to ensure that both parties receive maximum benefits from participating in the program. Many host employers experience so much success with the program that they host students on a weekly basis.

Our long term goal is to develop a more highly skilled local workforce equipped for the global economy by engaging business as partners in education.

OUR VISION

To be the leading Youth Support organisation by promoting collaborative partnerships which foster opportunities for young people.

Our Team

People are the lifeblood of any organisation and at SSBEN we recognise that the contribution of each individual in the business is vital to our success. We are a team of talented and professional people who are passionate about delivering exceptional outcomes for young people, their parents, schools and employers.
