We have been working on something NEW and extremely EXCITING for our students!
Southern Sydney Business Education Network have partnered with Chef Colin Fassnidge and the team at by fassnidge, to offer High Schools live cooking Master Classes. This is an opportunity not to be missed and is perfect for Hospitality and Food Technology students.
Colin Fassnidge is a 2 Hat Chef, a judge on reality TV’s My Kitchen Rules, a host employer to our work placement students at Banksia Bistro and now class teacher to students passing on tricks of the trade in his Master Classes.
The Master Class is a virtual session where students participate from their school classroom in a live cooking demonstration with Colin, a lesson they will not forget! It is fun and informative, with the opportunity to interact and learn from his best tips. The menu has been aligned to fit the curriculum with students seeing valuable skills in action.
With limited work placement opportunities and external excursions out of the question due to COVID, this is a great safe alternative to inspire students.
We launched the program last month with the VET Hospitality class @St Scholastica’s College Glebe. They watched Colin prepare and cook the chosen dish, were able to ask about Colin’s techniques, his career pathway and even found out which celebrities Colin has cooked for! The class then had their turn at cooking the dish and came up with some great results. The feedback was overwhelming with students thoroughly enjoying the Master Class experience.
